For Q1, we can start out by turning it into a plain fraction. 16*2=32, and 32+1=33, so 16+1/2=33/2. Similarly, for 2 3/4, 2*4=8 and 8+3=11, so 2 3/4=11/4 as the size of each piece of wood. To divide them, we have the numbers 33/2 and 11/4. We first find the reciprocal of the size of a piece (switch the numerator and denominator) and then multiply the 2 fractions - 33/2*4/11=132/22=6 pieces. Using that, I challenge you to do Q2 on your own!
