Authors of fiction stories teach readers "A message about life." A fact about science isn't correct because fiction is supposed to be something "fictional" or "unrealistic". If fiction taught us where to get something or how to do something, wouldn't that "something" end up being fictional as well? The second answer choice is your answer.
