the diameter of a cone is 16 meters. if the height is 1.5 times its radius what is the volume of the cone? Round to the nearest tenth.

The volume of the cone is given by:


V=(1)/(3)\pi r^2h

where r is the radius and h is the height.

In this case we have that the radius is 8 meters, this comes from the fact that the radius is half the diameter. Now the height is 1.5 times the radius, this meand that the height is:


h=1.5\cdot8=12

Plugging the values into the formula we have that the volume is:


V=(1)/(3)\pi(8)^2(12)=804.2

Therefore the volume is 804.2 cubic meters.
