Solve the equation:

2m + 14 = -8(5 - 7m)

First, we should remove the parentheses by multiplying -8 by its contents:

2m + 14 = -8*5 - (-8)*(7m)

Note the number -8 is now multiplying 5 and 7m

Now we operate individually:

2m + 14 = -40 + 56m

We have multiplied -8 * 7 = -56 and by the sign (-1)

Now we should arrange all the variables to the left side and the numbers to the right side.

Subtracting 56m:

2m + 14 -56m = -40 + 56m - 56m

Canceling like terms in the right side and operating in the left side:

14 -54m = -40

Now subtract 14:

14 -54m - 14 = -40 - 14

Cancel 14 and -14. Operate -40-14=-54:

-54m = -54
