So first, here, you would want to open the parenthesis with the distributive property.

3x + 9 = 6 (x - 2)

= 3x + 9 = 6x - 12

Then you would want to move all like terms to either side.

-21 = -3x

Now divide both sides by -3

7 = x

(I did it wrong in the beginning)
