Someone please help I suck at word problems!!!

A business traveler rents a car for $75a day, and $0.50 for each mile. If the trip will last 3 days and the traveler can spend no more than $400, how many miles can be driven? Explain your reasoning and express the formula as an inequality.

(75x3)+0.50x=400
225+ 0.50x=400
-225. -225
0.50x=175

X=350 miles

Answer:

A maximum of 350 miles can be driven.

Explanation:

Rent of the car for a day = $75

Cost for per mile = $0.50

Let the total miles driven be = x

So, if the trip will last 3 days and the traveler can spend no more than $400, the equation can be formed as:

(75*3)+0.50x\leq 400

225+0.50x \leq400

0.50x \leq400-225

0.50x \leq175

We get
x\leq 350 miles

So, a maximum of 350 miles can be driven.
