What is the value of x?

6x − 2(x + 4) = 12

(And there are no answer choices)

I think that x=5. You add 2 to the 12, and subtract it from the -2, which evens that out. Then the rest is simple. Hope this helps! :)

6x-2(x+4)=12
6x-2x-8=12
4x-8=12
+8 +8
4x=20
/4 /4
x=5
