1) Simplify 9 - {x - (7 + x)}

2) Simplify (-5) + (-4) + (7).

3) Evaluate A^2 for A = -3.

4)Simplify and determine the coefficient of (-1/3x)(3y)(-2x).

1. 9 - { x - (7 + x)}
9 - { x - 7 - x}
9 - { -7}
9 + 7
16 <===

2 (-5) + (-4) + 7 =
-5 - 4 + 7 =
-9 + 7 =
-2 <==

3. A^2....when A = -3
(-3)^2 =
-3 * -3 =
9 <==

4. (-1/3x)(3y)(-2x) =
(-1/3*3*-2)(xyx) =
(-1*-2)(x^2y) =
2x^2y....the coefficient is 2

5. 5x^3 + 2.....when x = -1
5(-1^3) + 2 =
5(-1) + 2 =
-5 + 2 =
-3 <==
