SOLUTION

Consider the image below

The image should have the leghth x

Hence by comparing the ratio of the side


\begin{gathered} (x)/(7)=(8)/(5) \\ \text{Then} \\ 5x=56 \\ x=(56)/(5)=11.2 \end{gathered}

Therefore

x=11.2

The area of the image when some part of the picture are chopped off


10*8=80in^2

The area of the main image will be


11.2*8=89.6in^2

Then

The percentage of the picture that can be used is


(80)/(89.6)*100=89.29\text{ \%}

Therefore

The percentage of the picture that can be used is 89.29%
