What is x + 5 = 3 using inverse operations?

The answer is -2. The inverse operation is when you do the opposite of the equation. In this case, you subtract 3 by 5. (not 5 by 3) Your result will be -2. Now plug -2 into x to check if it's true.

-2 + 5 = 3
3 = 3
