Solution:

Given that;

A rectangular window is 48 in long and 24 in wide

To find the area, A, of the rectangle, the formula is

\begin{gathered} A=lw \\ l\text{ is the length} \\ w\text{ is the width} \end{gathered}

Converting the side lengths from inches to feet,

Where

1\text{ in}=(1)/(12)\text{ ft}

The side lengths will be

\begin{gathered} l=48\text{ in}=48*(1)/(12)=4\text{ ft} \\ w=24\text{ in}=24*(1)/(12)=2\text{ ft} \end{gathered}

The area, A, of the window in square feet, will be

\begin{gathered} A=lw=4*2=8\text{ ft}^2 \\ A=8\text{ ft}^2 \end{gathered}

Hence, the answer is 8 ft²

A rectangular window is 48 in long and 24 in wide. Raina would like to buy a screen-example-1
