Simple subject is simply nouns in a sentence: person, place and thing and the term 'subject' is to indicate the nouns are in complete sentence. For example, "Every child needs love and nurturing."

Simple predicate is a verb(s) in a sentence- they are action verbs. For example," The dog created a mess while I was gone."
