Mathematical modeling is when you create a mathematical expression to model the behavior you're studying. This is usually formulated after doing research studies. An example would be the Langmuir isotherm model. This model describes an adsorption behavior. It tells you the maximum adsorption capacity of your adsorbent at a specific process condition. Although it may not give you the exact value of the real behavior, it can be an approximation.
