2C8H18 + 25O2 —> 16CO2 + 18H20

Reactant
There are 16 Carbon 2x8 = 16

36 Hydrogen 2x18 = 36

And 50 oxygen 25x2= 50

Product
There are 16 carbon

And 50 oxygen atoms
From the CO2 the amount of oxygen atoms are 32 (16x2=32)
And from the H20 the amount of oxygen atoms are 18
32+ 18= 50

There are 36 hydrogen 18x2= 36
Look at the numbers of atoms in the reactant and the product we will see we have the same amount for each atom

Balancing a chemical equation we need to make the reactant and product equal and balanced
