A = a^2...where a is the length of each side

1255 = a^2...take the square root of both sides, eliminating the ^2
sqrt 1255 = a
35.43 = a.....so each side is approximately 35.43 yds <==

If it is a square and the area is 1,255, the width and height of the square is the same. Find the square root of 1,255 and it will give you the length of the height and width (they are both the same being a square). The answer is 35.43 feet rounded to the nearest hundredth.
