We will have to simplify both sides of the equation first...

4(1 + 5x) = -6x -14 +8
(4)(1) + (4)(5x) = -6x -14 + 8 (Distribute)
4 + 20x = -6x + -14 +8
20x + 4 = (-6x) + (-14+ 8) Combine like terms
20x + 4 = -6x + -6
20x + 4 = -6x - 6

Now, we will add 6x to both sides...

20x + 4 + 6x = -6x -6 + 6x
26x + 4 = -6

Then, we subtract 4 from both sides...

26x + 4 - 4 = -6 - 4
26x = -10

Lastly, we divide both sides by 26....

26x = -10
----- -----
26 26

Your answer will be.....

X= -5/13

4(1 + 5n) = -6n - 14 + 8

4(1 + 5n) = -6n -6

4 + 20n = -6n - 6

10 + 26n = 0

26n = -10

n = -10/26 = -5/13.

I believe this would be the solution to the question.
