The equation from the words above is 10(1/2x+6)=8. Multiply 10 into the parenthesis. You get 5x+60=8. You need to get x by itself. So subtract 60 from each side to get 5x=-52. Then divide each side by 5. You get x=-10.4. The answer is x=-10.4. Hope this helps! ;)

10(0.5x+6)=8

Divide both sides by 10
0.5x+6=0.8

Subtract 6 from both sides.
0.5x=-5.2

Divide both sides by 0.5

x=-10.4

Final answer: x=-10.4
