3+5-4z=8z -> 3+5=8z+4z -> 8=12z -> z=8/12 Simplify. z=2/3

Add 5 to both sides
8-4z=8z
Add 4z to both sides
8=12z
Divide both sides by 12
z=12/8
Simplify
z=3/2
