If R1 and R2 are the roots of x^2+4x-5=0

Factor to find the roots.
(x+5)(x-1)=0

Proof:
5-1=4
5*-1=-5

Then apply the Zero Product Property.
(x+5)=0
x=-5

(x-1)=0
x=1

Roots: x=-5, x=1
