First we have to calculate the area of the room in square feet

We have to add the area of a rectangle of 10 by 9 and a rectangle of 4 by 7

Area = (10 x 9) + (4 x 7) = 90 + 28 = 118 square feet

118/9 = 13.11 square yards

118 sqare feet are 13.11 square yards, so Juan has to buy 14 square yards

Answer:

118 square feet

Juan has to buy 14 square yards because he needs 13.11 square yards, but they are sold as whle square yards
