Shawn has some nickels in a jar

Let x be the number of nickels in the jar

he put 174 nickels in the jar

Number of nickel added = 174

there are 435 nickels in the jar

Total number of nickel in jar = 435

So, Total number of nickel in jar = intial number of nickel in jar + number of nickels added

435 = x + 174

x = 435 - 174

x = 261

There are 261 nickels in the jar.

Answer: 261
