The Gilded Age took place in the United States from 1870 to 1900.The name of this period was borrowed from a novel by Mark Twain and Charles Warner which was called The Gilded Age: A tale of today.

This period was characterized by significant economic growth derived from a process of industrialization. This is the reason why a great number of people interested in having job opportunities in that recent growing industry moved to the cities.
