In the Inca capital, Cuzco, for instance, a white llama was sacrificed every day. White was chosen for its beauty and purity, however, camelids range in colour from cream to grey to black, with red and brown also common.
Cusco was the historic capital of the Inca Empire from the 13th until the 16th-century Spanish conquest. It is located southeastern Peru.
