(x+2)/(x²-3x-10) = (x-3)/(x²+x-12) First factor both denominators. (x+2)/(x+2)(x-5) = (x-3)/(x-3)(x+4) Then you can cancel on both sides to get 1/(x-5) = 1/(x+4)
