y = mx + c where

m is the slope and c the intercept

m = (-10 -8)/(1 - -8)

= -18/9

= -2

with (-8,8)

y - 8 = -2(x - -8)

y - 8 = -2(x + 8)

y - 8 = -2x - 16

y = -2x + 8 - 16

y = -2x - 8
