3x+4y=-3 (a)

x+2y=-1 (b)

multiply (b) by 2 and subtract it to (a)

3x+4y=-3

-

2x+4y=-2

________

x = -1

REplace x =-1 on any equation (a) or (b) and solve for y

x+2y=-1

-1+2y=-1

2y= 0

y= 0
