The patients suffering from ALS eventually succumb to the disease by respiratory failure.

ALS or Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis is a progressive neuro-degenerative disease. This disease affects simple movements of the muscles like swallowing and muscular cramps and twitches are common in this. Some people with ALS choose invasive ventilation for breathing but most people lose the battle with ALS due to respiratory failure.

The correct option is A. ALS is an acronym for Amyotrophic Lateral Scelerosis; it is a disease that attack nerve cells in the brain and in the spinal cord which are necessary for voluntary movement. It is a progressive neurodegenerative disease which most people lost due to respiratory failure.
