The "Eyes" is used to symbolize knowledge, truth, and awareness. For knowledge, the eyes sees what it can see and permits the knowledge to go thru it. Truth because it sees and accepts it if it wants. Awareness because it gives full responsibility as a witness to the events presented before it.
