A flower garden is shaped like a crde. Its radius is 19 yd. A ring-shaped path goes around the garden. The width of the path is 6 yd. The gardener is going to cover the path with sand. If one bag of sand can cover 8 yd?, how many bags of sand does the gardener need? Note that sand ca only by the bag, so the number of bags must be a whole number. (Use the value 3.14 for r.)

First, calculate the area of the ring path.

The area of the ring path can be calculated by subtracting the area of a circle with radius 19+6 = 25 and the area of a circle with radius 19:

A = π(25)² - π(19)² = 625π - 361π = 264π = 264(3.14) = 282.96

Then, the area of the ring path is 282.96 yd².

One bag of sand cover 8 yd², then, the number od required bag of sands are:

282.96 yd²/8 yd² = 103.62 104

Hence, approximately 104 bags of sand are required for the ring path.
