Depends. Technically it is considered illegal. Especially if not given credit where it is due. Also if there is profit involved then it is not legal. If it not for profit or used for educational purposes you are allowed to do so if considered fair use. But I would say False as it is technically an infringement and someone can use it in court.

I'm pretty sure it's actually false, you can't, for example, play "Believer" by Imagine Dragons at a festival over the radio without the owner of the copyrighted material's permission.
