The midpoint is given by the following formula:

M=((x_1+x_2)/(2),(y_1+y_2)/(2))

Where (x1,y1) and (x2,y2) are the coordinates of the endpoints of the segment.

Replace the given values in the formula and solve for M:

\begin{gathered} M=((14+(-9))/(2),(7+1)/(2)) \\ M=((5)/(2),(8)/(2)) \\ M=(2.5,4) \end{gathered}

The coordinates of the midpoint are M(2.5,4)
