x=5+y

Substitute the value of x in second equation
28x – 9y= -12
28 (5+y)-9y =-12
140 +28y -9y =-12
140 +19y= -12
19y = - 152
y= -8



Now let's find the value of x using y

x= 5+y
x= 5 + (-8)
= -3

So,
x= -3
y=-8
