Let

x ----> cost to rent each chair

y ----> cost to rent each table

so

we have that

4x+8x=61 -----> equation A

2x+3y=24 ----> equation B

Solve the system

Multiply equation B by -2 on both sides

-2[2x+3y=24 ] -----> -4x-6y=-48 -----> equation C

Adds equation A and equation C

4x+8x=61

-4x-6y=-48

-----------------

8x-6y=61-48

2y=13

y=6.5

Find out the value of x

substitute the value of y in any equation

so

2x+3y=24

2x+3(6.5)=24

2x=4.5

x=2.25

therefore

The cost to rent each chair is $2.25 and the cost to rent each table is $6.5
