In an aging brain, why is information inhibited from being transferred from one nerve cell to the next?

As we age the brain goes through natural changes. The brain loses nerve cells and weight, thereby making the nerve cells to start passing messages slowly than in the past. A fatty brown pigment can also build up in nerve tissue which prevents fast transfer of signals to the brain.

As we age, cell regeneration is slower so it also affects the formation of neurons where signals pass through as messages from the central brain are delivered to the rest of the body. These nerve endings deteriorates so the flow of biological signals become slow.
