Answer:

The Richter scale does up to ten, and starts at one. As it goes up, the intensity increases in different amounts. For example, a magnitude 8 would release 32 times the amount as a magnitude seven, and over 1000 times the amount that a magnitude 6 would.

Earthquakes with magnitudes between 1.0 and 2.9 on the richer scale are low, and usually not felt.
