You must solve this in the order of PEMDAS
That means solving in the order below
Parenthesis, Exponents, Multiplication, Division, Addition, then Subtraction.

So let divide first.
12 ÷ 2 = 6
Now we have
8 - 6 + 3
Add next,
8 - 9
Then subtract
8 - 9 = -1
Your answer is -1
