The variable Z is directly proportional to X. When X is 12, Z has the value 36. What is the value of Z when X = 19

The easiest way to solve this is to make a proportion problem.
Here is what we have so far...

(x)/(z)

(x(12))/(z(36)) =
(x(19))/(z)

cross multiply
12z = 36 × 19
12z = 684
z = 57
