The mean of the distribution is 19.4

Here, we want to calculate the mean of the distribution

What we have to do here is to multiply each suite number X by its individual probability P(x) and add the results

We have this as;

\begin{gathered} \Sigma\text{ x }*\text{ P (x)} \\ =\text{ 17(0.1) + 18(0.15) + 19(0.25) + 20(0.25) + 21(0.25)} \\ =\text{ 1.7 + 2.7 + 4.75 }+5+5.25\text{ = }19.4 \end{gathered}
