The diameter of the sphere, D=17 ft.

Hence, the radius of the sphere is


r=(D)/(2)=\frac{17\text{ }}{2}=8.5\text{ ft}

Now, the surface area of the sphere is,


\begin{gathered} SA=4\pi r^2 \\ =4\pi*8.5^2 \\ =907.92\text{ sq.ft} \end{gathered}

Therefore, the surface area of the sphere is 907.92 sq.ft.
