\left ( x,y \right ) means it is at a distance of x units from x - axis and y units from y - axis .If this point is translated a units left and b units down then new point becomes
\left ( x-a,y-b \right )

If this point is translated a units left and b units up then point becomes
\left ( x-a,y+b \right )

If this point is translated a units right and b units down then point becomes
(x+a,y-b)

If this point is translated a units right and b units up then point becomes
(x+a,y+b)

Given Point:
\left ( 4,5 \right )

If this point is translated 2 units left and 8 units down then this point becomes
(4-2,5-8) = (2,-3)
