Shirley went to the beauty shop to get her hair done, the cost was $75. She gave the hairdresser a 10% tip. The salon adds a sales tax of 8.25%. What was her tax on the bill? * What is her total cost? How much did she tip the hairdresser?

Shirley paid $75 in a hairdressing. The tax was 8.25% of the cost, so:

\text{tax}=75\cdot(8.25)/(100)=(618.75)/(100)=6.1875

The tips for the hairdresser was 10% of the cost, same as before:

\text{tip}=75\cdot(10)/(100)=(750)/(100)=7.5

The total cost was the sum of the cost, the tax and the tip:

\text{total cost=cost+tax+tip=75 + 6.1875 + 7.5= 88.6875}

The total cost is $88.6875
