If Miguel plans to keep 75 cards, the number of cards he could give to his friends is:

225-75=150

Miguel has 150 to give to his 4 friends. If he wanted to give each friend an equal amount, he would have to divide 150 by 4 and get no residue. But,

See that we get a residue of 2. That means that if Miguel wanted do give an equal amount of cards to each friend, he would have to give 37 to each of his friends, and he would have 2 cards left.

Therefore, Miguel can't give an equal amount of cards to each friend.
