We know that the graph is increasing when an increment of the "x" value is also followed by the increment of the "y" value. This happens on the interval:


(-\infty,0)

The function decreases when an increasing value of "x" produces a decreasing value of "y". This happens on the interval:


(0,\infty)

The maximum value is the greatest value of y for this function. In this case, it is 2
