This is called standered form:

ax^2+bx+c=0

This formula will guide you to the values of a, b, and c needed to find the discriminant

We are given:
0 = 2x^2 + x – 3

Ignore the 0=
2x^2 + x – 3

a=2

b=1
c=-3

Plug them into the discriminant :

b^2 - 4ac

(1)^2 - 4(2)(-3)=25

Final answer: 25
