D-Day is important for World War II because it was the main Allied invasion of continental Europe. It was this invasion that allowed the Allies to finally defeat Germany. In order for the Allies to defeat Germany, there would have to be aninvasion of Europe.

The invasion kept Churchill from playing games in the Balkans, it got the Western Allies back onto Western Europe and it also made the Germans divert forces from the Eastern Front. It led to the ultimate defeat of Germany in a shorter time span if no invasion had been attempted or if the invasion was defeated. I hope this helped
