Unsuccessful genes are enventually lost in the process of the organisms genetic transmission, those genes normally have no fuction or fail to perform what they are synthesized to, being considered failures of the genetic code or of the process of DNA construction. Therefore, these unsuccessful genes are not able to pass for the offspring over the generations, because the organisms with compromised genes are more likely to die before they can reproduce over the generations because of genetic complications.
