Acceleration is the rate of the change in velocity per time of an object in motion. At constant velocity, acceleration is zero. It is calculated by the expression:

a = (vf - vi) / t

From the problem,

vi = 0 (at rest)
vf = 30 m/s
t = 1 s

a = 30 - 0 / 1
a = 30 m/s^2 <-----------ACCELERATION
