President Nixon sent US forces to Cambodia in 1970 to bomb Viet Cong supply lines along the H* Chi Minh Trail.

Nixon authorizes invasion of Cambodia, April 28, 1970. He authorized U.S. combat troops to cross the border from South Vietnam into Cambodia with the purpose of preventing communist North Vietnamese attacks into South Vietnam from their sanctuaries there even as the South Vietnamese were had more responsibility for the lead of the war and U.S. forces were being withdrawn.
