Ans: carpool
Exhaust from vehicles is a major source of air pollution. Majority of the vehicles use oil as the fuel source. Oil essentially a hydrocarbon which undergoes combustion in the presence of oxygen to produce carbon dioxide and water. However, insufficient oxygen inhibits complete combustion and produces toxic CO (carbon monoxide). In addition, oxides of nitrogen (NOx) are also released from vehicle emissions.
Burning of wood releases large amounts of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) which are highly toxic.
Thus, the best way to reduce air pollution is to carpool, which would reduce the number of vehicles on road.
