Step-by-step explanation:

The sides of shipping box are 2 inches longer than the sides of jewellery box.

Let s be the side of jewellery box.

So, s+2 will be the side of shipping box .

a) Volume of jewellery box is,

\begin{gathered} V=edge^3 \\ V=s^3 \end{gathered}

b) Volume of shipping box is,

\begin{gathered} V=edge^3 \\ V=(s+2)^3 \end{gathered}

The side of jewellery box is 8 inches.

s=8

Then the volume of shipping box is,

V=(8+2)^3=10^3=1000\text{ cubic inches}

Answer: 1000 cubic inches.
